THE REPORTS

The places are chosen by local partners, the NGO's associated with this project. Well established and well experienced, they know local problems and needs better than anyone. After a period of adaptation for us and for the local population, we will be able to assimilate the situation and to start compiling the different reports (video, photo, written and with sound). Then we will use new technologies : camera, digital camera, digital sound recorder, portable computer, personal organizer, mobile phone, GPS.

"We will show them via technology and our western perspective how we perceive them." JC CRESPEL
We see this period as an exchange ; this is why our tools enable us also to show them with photos and videos the environment in which we live and our country. The presentations are mainly visual and based on sound, which reduces linguistic problems.

"We would like to surprise and stimulate the children by putting a walkman MP3 on their ears and enabling them to listen to the sounds of western culture as well as everyday sounds which are familiar to them (village festivals, voices of people of their family)" Auray AUN

With the help of the local contact, we detect the aids that we can bring, giving the priority to long-term problems: education, taking into account also matters of urgency (health, hygiene, food) and the NGO positioning (children sponsorship, medical follow-up, etc.)

A real-life test :

"In January 2001, I stopped my work for a month in order to test the project and the material in the field.

Unlike Auray, I had never been to Asia, so it was important for me to know if I could adapt to living conditions.

Accompanied by a friend (Valentine) over there, we made a tour of 10 000 km in Centinental China. Welcomed by Chinese people, we lived in villages and in towns at the same rhythm as them. "You are the first foreigners to come to us since the Japaneses in the 40's, and they did not come with the same intentions" an old man told us.

Valentine teaches journalism in China. She was therefore able to give me some useful tips and helped me with some editorial techniques."
