Departure to the Gujerat
Sunday, 5th of august

After a good night, we prepare the interview for Europe 1. In order to keep the same speaker for the listeners of the emission, JC will continue to give its impressions on our trip. It is 12:30 in Bombay (9h in London). The communication is correct, the emission can be done. But bacause problems with another traveller in South Africa lead us to speak only 2 minutes live. It is a little frustrating because we had so many feelings to express. It will be for the next week. Here we are, ready for our new destination, Nilpar.

Arrived at the station healthy and safe (the taxi driver thought he was Remi Julienne and nearly struck several vehicles!!), we wisely wait our train which must leave at 17:30. In order to pass time, we walk around the station. When it's my turn to keep the luggage, an Indian woman comes to me (always this legendary charm!!) and speaks to me in a dialect that of course I does not understand. It should say that in India, 16 official languages exist and approximately 4000 dialects. Then will last an interminable dialogue of deaf people which find its end at the arrival of JC.

Finally the train leaves, 10 hours of road await us. We kept our French newspapers taken on the aircraft to pass time. Our compartment is rather roomy and is air-conditioned. We hadn't thought to have this comfort. We had bought places in "sleepers AC "i.e. berths 2nd class with ventilators. But we are very hapy of this situation. The voyage proceeds without problem. To spend time, JC writes its journal on its Palm Pilot (very practical) whereas me, handicapped by this recalcitrant wrist, I can hardly write my name. It would be necessary to use the computer but it may be a little bit dangerous and attract people. So I read "the Courrier International" and admire the splendid landscapes of Gujerat, mix of deserts and of African savanna with its colors green and red. Sometimes, I goes between two coaches outside to feel the absence of the pollution of the city and the odors of this very particular area and one of best preserved of India.
