Arrival in India
Friday, 3rd of august

Here we are!! France is already far away (about 7 000 km). We are on August 4, it is 2 o'clock in the morning. We just arrived at Mumbaï (Bombay in hindi) or more precisely at Sahar, its international airport (located at about thirty km in the north of the downtown area). First impressions: choking and wet heat (21 degrees C), our clothing sticks to us already (even me which usually doesn't perspires). You can see practically nothing outside, it 's a night without moon. Because of the late hour, we decide to stay in the airport to spend the night there, in the retiring room. With our 2 big backpacks and our 2 small ones, It's impossible not to see us. We had filled them well. With 70% of computer equipement (ladtop, digital camera, CD, video tapes, batteries of replacement, software, international plugs kits, etc.) and also the rest : clothing (2 trousers, 2 underwear, 2 Tee-shirts, 2 short-sleeved shirts, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs of socks, a towel and a bob Sex Wax), …toilet bag and medecines, my bag must have a weigh of 20 kg (that will surely be pathetic when we o a trekking in Nepal). … I use it to put my foots when I need to have a rest during my first night in India. First country of our tour which will last 18 months. Tour which could have been delayed for a banal accident one week before the departure.

In the morning, the following day of the unforgettable party organized by our friends of Lille (North of France) (evening too long to tell and much moments not to be explained here but I can say that there were surprises, emotion, tears, games with our Friends in Line), I wanted to go soccer with a friend Sebastien. Bad idea because half an hour later, I had the wrist paralysed after a stop which was like a Barthez one. Direction Emergencies for a radio which confirmed a simple wrench. Result, I had not to move my arm during 5 days. I will just have problems during a few days but the departure will still be possible as envisaged the third of August. But it was not the end of our problems.

The day before the departure, we had made sleepless night for the ultimate preparations. All was ready for the D-day. Some friends Tophe and Béné proposed to drive us to the airport at 8 o'clock in the morning for a recording of the luggage at 9 hours. We had envisaged one hour to go to Roissy Airport. Work on the motorway A1 decided that is would be different. We arrived at the airport at 9h30. Despite of the delay taken by Air France, recordings were closed. Ther was a over-booking !! Negotiations began with the hostesses but we have to be patients at lesat half an hour. Then they let us go with our luggage. You can imagine : 4 months of job to, at final, going back the D-day, what a shame!!!
Finally, the ultimate control and we were ready to land off. But I did not realize yet that I was going to achieve an old dream : doing a Tour of the World.
